Terms
Draft of 13 October 2026
The short version. It’s free and offered as it is. Hosts are responsible for their events and what they put on them. Don’t use it for anything unlawful, harmful or spammy. Menu prices are estimates: the restaurant’s bill is what counts.
Who these terms are with
RSVP Me is run by [name of the person or business running it] in New Zealand (“we”). By making an event, replying to one or using an order sheet link, you agree to these terms. Our privacy notice explains what we keep and when it’s deleted.
It’s free
RSVP Me is free to use. There are no paid plans and no ads. If that ever changes, we’ll say so clearly on the site first, and nothing you’ve already set up will start costing money without you choosing it.
No guarantee
We try hard to keep the site working and your information safe, but we offer it as it is, without any promise that it will always be available, free of mistakes, or right for your event. Keep your own note of anything you can’t do without, like the final numbers you give a restaurant.
As far as the law allows, we aren’t responsible for losses that come from using the site or not being able to use it, such as a missed reply, a wrong order or a cancelled booking. Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or the Fair Trading Act 1986 that can’t be taken away. [Lawyer to check, including whether the Consumer Guarantees Act applies to a free service]
Hosts
If you make an event, you’re responsible for it. That means:
- what you put on the page is accurate and yours to share, including photos, the address and the menu
- you only invite people you have a reason to invite, and you look after the replies and orders they give you
- you only send the restaurant’s order sheet link to the restaurant (it shows names, orders and dietary needs)
- you tell guests about anything important, such as costs, the secret word or a change of plans
You must be 16 or over to host. Younger people can ask a parent or caregiver to host for them.
Guests
Reply as yourself, and only add plus-ones you’re actually bringing. Your reply, food order and answers go to the host. Some of it may be shown to other guests, as described in the privacy notice.
Don’t use it for
- anything unlawful, or events that are
- harassing, threatening, hateful or sexual content, or anything that puts someone at risk
- spam, scams, phishing, or collecting people’s details under false pretences
- pretending to be someone else, or another business
- selling tickets or taking payments (the site doesn’t handle money)
- trying to get around the limits, guess other people’s links or secret words, or break the site
Reports and take-downs
Every event page has a “Report this page” link. Reports are stored for the person running the site to review, and pages can be taken down. We may take a page down, without notice, if we think it breaks these terms or the law, or puts someone at risk. A page that’s been taken down can’t be seen by guests or the restaurant. We may also delete events made by a host who keeps misusing the site. If you think we’ve got it wrong, contact us.
Food orders and prices
Menus are typed in by the host. Prices shown on the event page and the restaurant’s order sheet are estimates worked out from that menu, and shared dishes are split evenly as a guide. The restaurant’s own menu, prices and bill are what count. Ordering through RSVP Me isn’t a booking or a contract with the restaurant; that’s between the host, the guests and the restaurant.
Dietary needs and allergies are passed on as they’re typed. Guests with a serious allergy should still tell the restaurant staff on the night.
What happens to events
Events and everything about them are deleted automatically 90 days after the event date. The restaurant’s order sheet stops working two days after the event. Hosts can delete an event or their whole account at any time.
Changes to the site
We may change, pause or stop the site, or any part of it, at any time. If we plan to stop it altogether, we’ll try to give notice on the site first. We may update these terms; the date at the top shows the latest version.
New Zealand law
These terms are governed by New Zealand law, and New Zealand courts deal with any dispute.
